"Don't Stop the Music" is a dance-pop song performed by Barbadian R&B singer Rihanna from her third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad. It was the third single from the album in most of Europe, the second single in Germany and Spain and the fourth single in the rest of the world. It was first sent toradio on December 27, 2006, in America and physically released on September 7, 2007, in Germany and elsewhere on later dates. It had many electronic dance music remixes by many European disc jockeys like The Wideboys, Bob Sinclar, and Jody Den Broeder. The song was written by Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen, Tawanna Dabney, and samples Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'". The up-tempo song has prominent dance music characteristics with influences of techno and house and is lyrically about having fun on the dancefloor.
"Don't Stop the Music" was well-received by many critics for its combination of techno and house music. The song is one of Rihanna's most critically acclaimed and best selling singles. It garnered high commercial outcomes for Rihanna in several countries, hitting the top five in eighteen countries, including Australia, Belgium, France, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Canada, and the United States. The song reached its highest international peak in eleven countries at number one including Australia, Belgium, France, Finland and Germany.
The music video for the song features Rihanna performing in the club behind a candy store. It was directed by Taj and Rihanna, her first music video that was co-directed, along with "Disturbia". In 2008, the song received a Grammy nomination in the Best Dance Recording category but lost to Justin Timberlake's "Love Stoned". On June 23, 2010, the song reached sales of over three million downloads, becoming Rihanna's third song as a lead artist to do so.Moon Music
Please don't stop the music
Please don't stop the music
Please don't stop the music
Please don't stop the music
It's getting late
I'm making my way over to
my favorite place
I gotta get my body moving
Shake the stress away
I wasn't looking for nobody when you looked my way
Possible candidate, yeah
Who knew
That you'd be up in here, be here looking like you do
You're making staying over here impossible
Baby, I must say your aura is incredible
If you don't have to go, don't
Do you know what you started?
I just came here to party
But now we're rockin on the dance floor, actin' naughty
Your hands around my waist
Just let the music play
We're hand in hand chest to chest and now we're face to face
[CHORUS]
I wanna take you away
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play
I just can't refuse it
Like the way you do this
Keep on rockin' to it
Please don't stop the, please don't stop the music
I wanna take you away
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play
I just can't refuse it
Like the way you do this
Keep on rockin' to it
Please don't stop the, please don't stop the
Please don't stop the music
Baby are you ready cause it's gettin close
Don't you feel the passion ready to explode?
What goes on between us no-one has to know
This is a private show
Do you know what you started?
I just came here to party
But now we're rockin on the dance floor, actin' naughty
Your hands around my waist
Just let the music play
We're hand in hand just to dress and now we're face to face
[CHORUS]
[x4]
Please don't stop the music
[CHORUS x2]
Please don't stop the music
Please don't stop the music
Please don't stop the music
